Keanu is a young Wadjarri Yamatji currently residing in Geraldton.
Keanu comes from a large family, Keanu’s parents are very supportive and assist with Keanu’s getting to work in Perth from Geraldton, a 900 km return commute fortnightly.
He had limited work experience when he registered with Real Futures in 2020 and was a little nervous entering the workforce.
Real Futures worked closely with Keanu and his parents and quickly sourced an opportunity with Pilbara Aboriginal Investments as a Utilities Worker.
Keanu has grown in confidence and he has now applied for a Traineeship in Cert III Civil Construction with Lendlease for a local role as opposed to FIFO, as his preference is to work at home near his family.
