Building skills and creating employment pathways

Since joining the Momentum Program in March 2025, Liley has made significant progress towards her employment and career goals.

The Momentum Program in NSW is a free, 3-step initiative for Aboriginal and Torres Strait Islander people (aged 16-55) seeking sustainable employment in North-Eastern NSW. It covers birth registration/ID, driver licensing, and job placement, and is delivered by Real Futures alongside Pathfinders and ACE Community Colleges.

With tailored assistance from Real Futures, an organisation that provides employment, training and mentoring support, Liley developed the skills and credentials needed to enter the traffic management industry.

Gaining essential qualifications

Through the program, the Real Futures team supported Liley to:

  • Obtain her driver’s licence
  • Complete her White Card
  • Gain her Traffic Control qualification
  • Complete Workers on Foot training

These achievements helped prepare Liley for work as a traffic controller, a role focused on safely managing vehicle and pedestrian movement around roadworks and other worksites.

Taking the next step into leadership

After completing her training, Liley secured employment as a traffic controller. Her strong work ethic, reliability and positive attitude quickly stood out to her employer.

Liley is now preparing to move into a Team Leader role, marking an exciting new stage in her career and recognising the dedication she has shown in the workplace.

A future with momentum

Liley’s journey demonstrates what can be achieved through determination, practical training and tailored employment support.

We’re proud to celebrate her success and excited to see her continue growing as she takes on new responsibilities and builds her career.
