Janet learns new skills to gain employment in the Tourism Industry

Janet is a local resident of Carnarvon; she has been living in town for more than 40 years. She has been unemployed long-term and is continuing to better herself for better opportunities.

She is experienced in care giving in the aged Care industry and has 20 years of experience as an education assistant. Her goal is to explore new opportunities and endeavour new learning and experiences.

Janet completed her Certificate III in Business Administration in 2019, she received the Outstanding Achievement Award. Real Futures supported Janet through financial and other assistance to support her studies and achieve a successful career.

This year Janet is undertaking Certificate III in Tourism in conjunction with the Regional TAFE  at Carnarvon and again supported by Real Futures. She is currently completing her work placement hours at One Mile Jetty Museum. Janet enjoyed her time sharing the stories of the historic place to the visiting tourists.

Recently Janet catered for a group of Japanese visitors and was delighted to show what the town has to offer, and why they need to visit Carnarvon. Janet is due to finish her course in December and she is looking forward to finding employment in the tourism industry.
