
Tyron joined our Transition to Work program in Geraldton as a shy young man who had a goal of working in the construction industry.
Our Employment Consultant, Irene, gave Tyron one-to-one mentorship and once his confidence had been boosted, he enrol in a Certificate III of Civil Construction, run by RTO Training Alliance.
The course curriculum is a combination of theory, written and oral assessments, alongside practical tasks with physical machine operation. Participants gain their White Card and approximately 140 hours of machine operation experience.
Students like Tyron graduate job ready to start an entry level role in the Construction industry.
Tyron Showcases His Commitment
Throughout his training, Tyron demonstrated determination and stayed focussed on achieving his certification.
He participated in classroom workshop activities, completed assessments and had a good attendance record.
Irene shared that she was impressed with Tyron’s ambition and personal drive to achieve a positive result. He would approach the trainer for assistance when needed and he made every effort to get through the training, despite a few family issues.
Nearing the end of the course, Tyron kept in regular communication with Irene regarding potential opportunities in the Civil Construction field.
Once qualified, he continued to participate in work preparation activities and job readiness workshops while being supported by our team to find employment.
Successfully Gaining a Local Job
Irene contacted local employers and in no time, Tyron was offered casual employment with a local company Red Dust Holdings (RDH)!
We’re pleased to share that Tyron completed his 6-month six-month probationary period and has been employed for nearly a year now!
He has gained a variety of skills and worked at different sites during his time at RDH, adding key experience to his resume.
Throughout this time, our Transition to Work team has provide post-placement support and made sure Tyron had everything he needed to succeed.
Tyron is now looking ahead to his future and is keen to take on a FIFO role in the mining industry.
Our team is now assisting him to contact prospective companies.
We know Tyron has a bright future ahead and we look forward to helping him achieve his goals!
