At the end of April, the Real Futures team supported the Carnarvon Aboriginal Justice Open Day. Held by Aboriginal Justice and the Government of Western Australia, we attended with our aspirants who needed the services offered.
It was a very successful day with 20 of our aspirants present. Out of those 20, we had 7 people gain their learner licenses and 6 upgrade their current license, 6 people received their birth certificates, 1 person passed their practical hazard test and 4 people enrolled to vote.
Representatives from Aboriginal Justice and WA Government also helped our aspirants with driving and legal aid queries.
Aboriginal Justice Open Days are always welcome in our communities as they’re an excellent way to engage with the Government and legal system. Having all the services in one place, in a location known and comfortable to our aspirants, and with our staff supporting, means that more people turn up and get their essentials sorted.
