WB2C Team Deliver a Traineeship Workshop
In October, Brooke and Shanieka visited Westmead Hospital to facilitate a supportive workshop for the current NSW Health Pathology trainees.
Our team have been mentoring these trainees for the past 4-months vis emails, texts and calls, and this was our first face-to-face workshop.
We’re pleased to report that all of the 18 trainees that attended are loving their traineeships!
Although there have been some challenges with balancing work, study and personal life, they are all motivated and excited to complete their qualifications.
Our team loved witnessing the great friendships they’ve all made and the support they give each other.
We created a safe-space for this workshop so everyone could speak openly about their experiences.
We talked about highlights and challenges, and had one-on-one chats which trainees who needed extra encouragement.
In the workshop, we:
- Participated in the NSW Health ‘Respecting the Difference’ module
- Hosted a vision board session
- Created a mind map of encouraging words for a fellow trainees
Shanieka and Brooke with be arranging an online study session for the trainees soon as another way to connect, study and debrief about the traineeship.
Our Aspirants Gain 2025 Traineeships!
In November, Reach Out Officer Leah took a group of Aspirants to Westmead Hospital to be interviewed for 2025 NSW Health Pathology Traineeships.
A traineeship is an incredible opportunity to learn on the job and experience different departments and roles within healthcare.
Alongside this training, WB2C supports the trainees with mentoring, wellbeing calls and workshops.
We are excited to share that 3 of our Aspirants successfully gained Metro NSW Health Pathology Traineeships across Sydney!
Also a huge shout out to our team member Patrice who also helped 5 of our Aspirants gain 2025 Traineeships in Lismore and Tweed Heads!
These traineeships are possible because of a partnership we established this year between Real Futures and NSW Health Pathology to support Indigenous people into careers in healthcare.
