Real Futures have been working and engaging with Bella for a while now and it has been fantastic to see her progress and be on this journey on success with Bella.
In 2021 Real Futures was instrumental in helping Bella secure employment in Carnarvon Hospital. Bella has been continuing to do great things once this confidence boost was given to her and recently, she has achieved one of her goals which is to obtain her learner’s license.
Bella reached her goal because she was diligent and determined. On her days off from the hospital Bella sat with PPS Officer, Rona Challis, to complete the Traffic Road Rules Practice test to build her knowledge on the traffic rules.
Throughout the training Bella was challenged with language, literacy and numeracy (LLN) issues but through engaging with the study these issues were soon addressed. Bella learned new words, pronunciations, enhanced her reading skills and comprehension. She also learned new skills on the computer through her studies and the sessions enhanced her thinking skills. All of which are great tools for life as well as for the road.
As part of the study period, Rona would pick Bella up from work and deliver the training by showing and testing real life situations on the road. This real-life testing allowed for Bella to quickly put her theory to practice and quickly excelled on the rules of how to act accordingly and lawfully on the road.
Bella’s perseverance had paid off and she attained her learner’s licence. She is now looking forward to continuing from this and being behind the wheel of her own car and achieving the next steps of learning to drive.
Bella has also commenced some additional casual employment at the Jardilunji Mia Café in the Gwoonwardu Mia Cultural Centre Café. She is completing her Certificate II in Hospitality through the Jobs Trialling Program.
Well done Bella, we are so excited to be on this journey with you.
